Spanish powerhouse commits to the competition’s new long-term structure ahead of Friday’s board meeting

According to Eurohoops sources, Real Madrid has signed the new 10-year agreement with EuroLeague Basketball and is set to become a franchise alongside the league’s other shareholder clubs.

Official ratification of the new status quo is expected during the next EuroLeague Board meeting on Friday, when the league is also expected to formally confirm the framework for its future expansion plans.

Real Madrid‘s decision means one of European basketball’s biggest clubs has formally committed to the EuroLeague’s long-term project, which will see shareholder teams operate under a franchise model moving forward.

The Spanish powerhouse had been the last shareholder club yet to finalize the new agreement. With the signing now completed, another key piece of the EuroLeague’s future structure is in place ahead of the upcoming board meeting.
