Panathinaikos has reached an agreement with Brancou Badio on a contract through 2029 after moving to activate the €1.5 million buyout clause in his Valencia deal.
The 27-year-old Senegalese guard recently signed a contract extension with the Spanish club through 2029, but the release clause opened the door for his move to Athens. The official announcement is expected early next week, likely on Monday, after Valencia bids farewell to the player.
Badio is set to become Panathinaikos‘ second addition of the offseason following the arrival of center Moustapha Fall, marking another move in the club’s new era under Željko Obradović.
The former Valencia guard enjoyed a strong 2025-26 EuroLeague campaign, averaging 11.2 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists across 40 appearances while shooting 33.6% from three-point range, 54.8% on two-pointers and 86.3% from the free-throw line.
He also played a decisive role against Panathinaikos in the EuroLeague quarterfinals. In the decisive Game 5, Badio finished with 20 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals, helping Valencia eliminate the Greek side from the competition. He capped off the season by winning the Liga Endesa title, as Valencia defeated Barcelona 3-1 in the Finals.
