Bonzie Colson is heading back to familiar surroundings after agreeing to a two-year contract with Maccabi Tel Aviv, marking the return of one of the club’s most influential and popular players in recent years.
The 30-year-old forward rejoins Maccabi after a successful season with Fenerbahçe, where he captured the EuroLeague title and added multiple domestic trophies to his résumé. His return brings back a player who played a central role during two memorable campaigns in Tel Aviv, helping the club win two Israeli League championships and a State Cup while establishing himself as a fan favorite.
Speaking after the announcement, Colson expressed his excitement about returning to the club where he enjoyed some of the best years of his career.
“I’m incredibly happy and grateful to be reunited with my Maccabi family. From the moment I left, this club, the fans and the city of Tel Aviv have always had a special place in my heart. I’m thankful to the owners, management and coaching staff for making this return possible. I’m excited to get back to work and create more special memories together.”
Head coach Oded Kattash also welcomed the reunion, highlighting both Colson’s basketball qualities and his connection to the organization.
“We’re very happy to have Bonzie back. Everyone here knows what he brings—not only his talent and energy on the court, but also the bond he has with the club. It feels like a natural full-circle moment for both sides.”
Since first arriving in Israel in 2022, Colson quickly became one of the cornerstones of Kattash’s system. His versatility allowed him to contribute across multiple positions, combining relentless energy, reliable perimeter shooting, strong post play and defensive intensity. Beyond his production, he earned widespread admiration for his leadership and commitment to the team.
During his final season with Maccabi, Colson averaged 12.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game in the EuroLeague. He also posted 11.3 points and 4.6 rebounds in the Israeli League regular season before raising his level in the playoffs with 13.8 points and 6.2 rebounds per contest.
After leaving for Fenerbahçe in the summer of 2024, the former Notre Dame standout enjoyed another successful chapter. Playing a key role off the bench in a deep and talented roster, he helped the Turkish club lift the EuroLeague trophy, two league titles, two domestic cups and the Turkish Super Cup. In Europe last season, Colson averaged 7.1 points and three rebounds in approximately 17 minutes per game while shooting an impressive 48.5 percent from three-point range.
