Real Madrid have their sights set on the Ukrainian shooting guard, who has stood out in the G League

The revolution at Real Madrid continues. Following the dismissal of Sergio Scariolo, the arrival of Jaime Pradilla, and talks with Mikael Jantunen, the “white club” has set its sights on Max Shulga.

As initially reported by AS and later confirmed by Óscar Herreros, the 24-year-old Ukrainian shooting guard is on the agenda of a club that is going to completely overhaul its roster. Shulga, who stood out with the Maine Celtics, Boston’s G League affiliate, would count as a ‘quota’ player, something highly coveted.

Shulga, who took advantage of the post-Covid agreement to stay five years in college, left a good impression at Utah State before making the jump to the Atlantic 10 with VCU. He is one of the best shooters outside the NBA. This is demonstrated by his 41% three-point shooting with more than 5 attempts per game in the 23/24 season.

Shulga stood out in a Maine Celtics team full of NBA talent like Ron Harper Jr. (brother of Dylan Harper), John Tonje, Keon Johnson, Kendell Moore, as one of the best shooters in the development league. Real Madrid, which has been looking for a player of this profile for some time, could be interested in bringing him back to Europe.

Shulga, born in Kyiv, moved to León at the age of 11, and from the age of 14 played in Torrelodones before making the leap to Utah State and wearing the Aggies jersey.
