Melih Mahmutoglu has penned a one-year contract extension with Fenerbahce, committing to a 13th season with the club based in Istanbul. The deal was announced on Tuesday, ensuring that the 36-year-old veteran shooting guard will continue to sport his iconic number 10 jersey for the 2026–2027 campaign.
Having originally joined the organization in 2013, the longtime team captain has etched his name in golden letters into the Yellow Legacy, establishing himself as one of the most decorated and celebrated figures in team and Turkish history. The sharpshooter’s legendary tenure in the metropolis is defined by immense local and continental success.
Over 13 years with the powerhouse, the 1.91-meter elite perimeter threat has guided his squad to two EuroLeague crowns, capturing the titles in 2017 and 2025. Locally, his leadership has yielded eight Turkiye Sigorta Basketbol Super Ligi trophies, six Cups, and four Presidential Cups.

A reliable European presence, Mahmutoglu has made his way to 241 EuroLeague matches exclusively for Fener, contributing 2.1 points per game across seven appearances last year.
Before solidifying his status as a franchise icon, the Istanbul-born backcourt player developed through the Efes Pilsen junior system and suited up for several other Turkish clubs en route to Fenerbahce.
The Istanbul native has also represented Turkiye extensively, progressing through the U16, U18, and U20 national selections. As a senior squad member, he secured a gold medal at the Mediterranean Games 2013 and competed at the FIBA World Cup 2019 alongside three editions of the EuroBasket.
