Maccabi Rapyd Tel Aviv has brought forward-center Shane Hunter back from his loan spell with Legia Warsaw, the club officially announced.
The 25-year-old American, who stands 2.08 meters tall, signed a three-year contract with Maccabi last summer. He will now join Oded Kattash’s roster after spending the previous season in Poland.
“Shane Hunter completes a deep and versatile frontcourt for us. He gained important experience in Europe last season. He is a big man who moves very well without the ball, shoots at a high percentage from two-point range, rebounds well, is highly mobile in the pick-and-roll and affects opposing shots with his blocking,” Kattash told the club’s official website.
Hunter averaged 9.2 points on 63 percent shooting from inside the arc, five rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game in the Polish league.
In his Basketball Champions League debut season, he recorded 8.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and one block per game, along with an average efficiency rating of 12.
Hunter began his professional career with Norrköping Dolphins after playing college basketball at Nova Southeastern University. He helped the Swedish club win its fifth consecutive domestic championship.
During the 2024-25 regular season, his first in Europe, Hunter averaged 14.3 points, 8.6 rebounds, 1.2 blocks and 1.2 steals in 26.4 minutes per game. He increased his scoring output to 16.4 points per game during the championship series.
