Real Madrid have officially announced the signing of Olivier Sarr, confirming that the French center has agreed to a two-year contract running through the end of the 2027-28 campaign.

The 2.08-meter, 27-year-old big man arrives from the Cleveland Cavaliers and provides Madrid with additional size, mobility, rim protection and perimeter shooting following Usman Garuba’s serious Achilles injury.

Sarr went undrafted in 2021 after playing college basketball at Wake Forest and Kentucky. He later established himself in the NBA and G League, spending most of his NBA career with the Oklahoma City Thunder before joining Cleveland.

Across 50 NBA appearances, Sarr averaged 4.7 points and 3.4 rebounds while shooting 39.1 percent from three-point range. He was also a consistent double-double threat in the G League.

The move carries an additional connection to Real Madrid, as Sarr’s younger brother, Washington Wizards center Alex Sarr, spent two years in the club’s youth system between 2019 and 2021.
