Kosner Baskonia is actively working on a deal to sign Ukrainian center Alex Len as they look to bolster a frontcourt that is currently running thin. According to a report from El Correo on Thursday, the Basque club has already established contact with the 33-year-old big, and negotiations are progressing well so far.
The Vitoria-Gasteiz outfit finds itself in urgent need of reinforcement under the basket, as the physical Kenneth Faried is currently the only natural center listed on the roster under head coach Paolo Galbiati. While versatile forwards like Tadas Sedekerskis or Rodions Kurucs could potentially slide over to protect the paint, such a realignment would only be utilized by the team in an emergency situation.
The 2.13-meter center, born in 1993 and selected as the fifth overall draft pick out of Maryland in 2013, is a veteran of 704 NBA games over 12 years. He returned to Europe last winter to join Real Madrid but struggled to fully display his capabilities behind Walter Tavares and Usman Garuba, averaging 3.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks in just over nine minutes per contest across 23 EuroLeague games before a late-season injury prevented him from playing in the 2026 EuroLeague Final Four Athens, presented by Etihad.
At Baskonia, Len would step into a much larger role alongside a roster additionally featuring Damion Baugh, Chris Duarte, Clement Frisch, Markus Howard, Stefan Joksimovic, A.J. Lawson, Kobi Simmons, Matteo Spagnolo, and D.J. Stewart Jr.
Galbiati’s side faces an immediate test in Round 1 of the 2026–27 EuroLeague Regular Season, hosting defending champion Olympiacos at the Fernando Buesa Arena on September 24. Three days later, on September 27, they will open their domestic Liga Endesa campaign with a road trip to visit Recoletas Salud San Pablo Burgos.
