Euroleague Basketball Chief Executive Officer Chus Bueno attended the EuroLeague Players Association General Assembly on Thursday.
Per the press release: “On Thursday, September 10, Euroleague Basketball CEO Chus Bueno participated in the EuroLeague Players Association (ELPA) General Assembly held in Barcelona.
During the meeting, Euroleague Basketball CEO Chus Bueno shared with an extensive delegation of players from each EuroLeague team, ELPA President Tornike Shengelia, ELPA Managing Director Bostjan Nachbar and other participants the latest developments across the League, with a focus on the implementation of the transformational strategic roadmap designed to accelerate the long-term growth, value creation and global positioning of Euroleague Basketball.
“We are building the future of Euroleague Basketball with a long-term vision, and it is essential that our players are part of that journey. The dialogue with ELPA and the players is extremely important as we continue to develop our strategic roadmap, strengthen the competition and create new opportunities for the entire European basketball ecosystem. Today’s meeting was a valuable opportunity to share our progress and, equally importantly, to listen to the players’ perspectives and ideas,” stated Chus Bueno, Euroleague Basketball CEO.
The players received an update on conversations regarding the new EuroLeague Framework Agreement (EFA) and on the implementation of the three-year Strategic Business Plan, the expansion of the franchise model and the latest developments regarding Euroleague Basketball+, a new vision for the future of European club basketball designed to become the digital home of European club basketball, combining competitions, content, technology, commercial opportunities and fan experiences into one integrated ecosystem.
Tornike Shengelia, ELPA President stated: “Players are at the heart of the EuroLeague, so it is important that we are closely involved in the conversations shaping its future. We appreciate the opportunity to receive an update directly from Euroleague Basketball and to have an open discussion about the direction of the League. We believe that continued dialogue and collaboration between the League and ELPA can help build a stronger and more sustainable future for European club basketball.”
The meeting also explored ways to further develop collaboration between Euroleague Basketball and ELPA, with both sides expressing their intention to continue working closely in key areas such as content creation and player development, among others. The meeting highlighted the important role that players will continue to play in the future development of the League.”
