Evan Fournier, a member of Olympiacos, spoke before the Super Cup semifinal duel in Abu Dhabi and the clash against Fenerbahce.
The two teams will meet again in the semifinal of a tournament, just like they did in Athens this year at the EuroLeague Final Four. Ahead of this clash, the Frenchman spoke to the Olympiacos’ cameras, where he emphasized that he doesn’t really want to recall the last time and their stay in Abu Dhabi – 16 months ago Monaco stopped Olympiacos in the EuroLeague semifinal.
“Shall we not talk about the beautiful moments (laughs)? Yes, I literally still remember it. The last time we were here… we forgot to take it home, so I hope this time we will have a better experience.”
Referring to Fenerbahce and the fact that Olympiacos faced them in Crete, the MVP of the Athens Final Four said:
“Fenerbahce is a very well-coached team. They play really hard, they have size, and they play with intensity. They don’t give anything away. It’s still almost preseason, but we expect a tough game tomorrow, and moving forward, we know that Fenerbahce is a team we should watch out for.”
Evan also highlighted the importance of the team’s core remaining intact and talked about how much strong tests have meant in the preseason so far.
“We had four games and a few practices. The great thing for us is that we have a core of players who played together last year, so it’s nothing new. But we do have some new players on the team. I think we’ll play a bit faster this year, but it remains the same. The most important thing for us is to play together and hard and to compete.”
On how he feels about participating in the first EuroLeague Super Cup, the Frenchman mentioned:
“I’m excited. It’s an opportunity for a title. It’s a new competition, and I don’t know what to expect, but regardless of what happens, I want to compete.”
