The EuroLeague SuperCup made its debut ahead of the 2026-27 season, with reigning champion Olympiacos and Fenerbahce opening the new competition in a rematch of last season’s Final Four semifinal. Unlike their one-sided encounter in Athens, Sarunas Jasikevicius’ revamped team produced a much stronger performance and controlled long stretches of the game with its outside shooting.
However, Olympiacos refused to let the game slip away. Evan Fournier sparked the Piraeus side’s comeback before delivering the decisive basket in the closing minute, as Georgios Bartzokas’ team edged Fenerbahce 92-90 to advance to the final. The Reds will face the winner of the matchup between Real Madrid and Dubai Basketball.
Fournier led the reigning European champion with 19 points, while Donta Hall recorded a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds. Jean Montero, who arrived late in Abu Dhabi because of visa issues, made an encouraging contribution with 13 points, while Cory Joseph added 10. Former Crvena Zvezda point guard Codi Miller-McIntyre finished with two points, two rebounds and four assists.
Shavon Shields paced Fenerbahce with 18 points, followed by Braxton Key with 17 and Marcus Bingham with 10. Wade Baldwin scored nine points, while Will Clyburn and Talen Horton-Tucker contributed eight apiece.
Fournier put Olympiacos ahead by two with 53 seconds remaining before Shields and Joseph missed three-pointers at opposite ends. Fenerbahce then had one final possession to force overtime or win the game, but Horton-Tucker missed a difficult shot inside the arc. Key grabbed the offensive rebound but was late getting the ball back outside, leaving Baldwin to attempt an off-balance heave from long range. Montero managed to get a hand on the ball, ensuring it never reached the rim and sealing Olympiacos’ dramatic victory.
