The CEO of Euroleague, Jordi Bertomeu will be in Belgrade next week in order to watch the crucial Top 16 game between Crvena Zvezda and Panathinaikos. But that’s not the most important issue that will bring him in the Serbian capital after an invitation by Red Star.

The related press release by Crvena Zvezda mentions that Jordi Bertomeu has already had some serious talks with the club’s president, Nebojsa Covic. And that is leaving many… open possibilities about what might happen, or being said next week.

What is the most important of them all? A possible invitation to Crvena Zvezda to participate in the new Euroleague. If that happens, it will mean a lot for Serbian basketball and ABA League in general. Perhaps after the 11th of March we will be bombarded by news in the “Civil War” that began once again, in European basketball.

We remind you that there has been some concern in Serbia about the Olympic Qualifying tournament, after the ABA League stated that there has been no agreement with either FIBA or Euroleague.
