Euroleague Basketball and the EuroLeague Head Coaches Board used the inaugural SuperCup in Abu Dhabi to advance discussions over a closer and more structured relationship between the competition and its head coaches.
The meeting followed the recent signing of an agreement that lays the groundwork for the first comprehensive Framework Agreement between the two organizations, designed to define their cooperation and strengthen the coaches’ role in the EuroLeague’s future development.
Euroleague Basketball President Dejan Bodiroga, CEO Chus Bueno and Chief Basketball Operations Officer Diego Guillen d’Arlot de Saint-Saud represented the League in talks with EHCB President and Dubai Basketball Head Coach Xavi Pascual, Vice President Sergio Scariolo and Executive Director Goran Sasic.
According to the official announcement, the two delegations “discussed the details of the agreement recently signed by both organizations, which establishes the foundations for the development of the first comprehensive Framework Agreement with the head coaches’ association.”
The EHCB representatives were also briefed on the latest developments within Euroleague Basketball, with particular emphasis placed on the implementation of the League’s strategic roadmap and its plans to accelerate “long-term growth, value creation and global positioning of its competitions.”
Euroleague Basketball added that the agreement further aligns the competition with its primary sporting stakeholders. It complements the existing Framework Agreement with the EuroLeague Players Association and the recently renewed agreement with the Union Euroleague Basketball Officials.
“The agreement with the EHCB further strengthens the alignment between Euroleague Basketball and its key sporting stakeholders, including players, head coaches and officials, as the League enters its next phase of development,” the statement concluded.
