Zalgiris opened their EuroLeague season with an important 83–77 road win over Crvena zvezda in Belgrade, but the victory came with an early setback. Nigel Williams-Goss suffered a hamstring injury and is expected to be sidelined for around two weeks, the club announced.
Williams-Goss was one of Zalgiris’ key contributors in the opener, scoring 14 points before leaving the game late. Losing a guard who helped lead the team to its first win gives head coach Tomas Masiulis an immediate problem to solve after just one round.
The injury comes just as Zalgiris enter a EuroLeague double week. Based on the club’s estimate, Williams-Goss is expected to miss both games and could also be sidelined for a third before he is ready to return.
