Tamir Blatt joined Hapoel Tel Aviv this summer after his contract with Maccabi Tel Aviv expired, but his injury and uncertainty over his immediate plans have delayed his integration into the team.
Hapoel head coach Dimitris Itoudis has now provided an update on the guard, who is still recovering from what he described as a significant injury.
“Things are going better in terms of his injury, but I believe he will need around two more weeks to recover,” Itoudis said per Sport5.
Asked whether Blatt would then join Hapoel’s roster, the Greek coach explained that no decision has been made.
“We will evaluate the situation, first of all, as well as his desire to play abroad during the first year of his contract with Hapoel. We have time to assess everything until he returns to action.”
Itoudis also stressed that Hapoel values Israeli players despite having limited options on the market.
“Since I arrived, I have spoken with many Israeli players. Some chose other teams, but we care greatly about Israeli players, and the numbers show that they are developing at this club. At the same time, we also have another objective, which is to win.”
