Zalgiris guard Carsen Edwards is facing legal trouble after being pulled over by law enforcement in Kaunas following a domestic league victory.
As reported by Krepsinis.net on Monday, the 28-year-old American playmaker was caught driving under the influence of alcohol. The incident occurred during a late-night preventive police raid, just hours after his team’s game in Lithuania’s Betsson LKL against Lietkabelis on Sunday. Official police spokesperson Ramunas Matonis has confirmed the report, stating that the former NBA player registered a blood alcohol level of 1.07‰ while operating a Volkswagen Tiguan.
The offcourt situation overshadowed a strong performance in a winning effort for Zalgiris. Edwards played 17 minutes, contributing 11 points on perfect 4-of-4 shooting alongside six assists and an efficiency rating of 15 against Lietkabelis. Fueling a 4–0 domestic start, he has been a steady contributor, averaging 11.8 points over his first four LKL appearances.
The Houston native arrived in Lithuania this past summer. Tasked with replacing Sylvain Francisco, the veteran of 75 NBA games with the Boston Celtics and Detroit Pistons has started the continental schedule well. Through three EuroLeague games, the former 2024–25 All-EuroLeague First Team member is averaging 16.0 points, 2.0 assists, 1.0 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per contest.
The timing adds pressure to the team coached by Tomas Masiulis, which fell to 1–2 during a EuroLeague double-week with losses to Olympiacos and Paris.
Zalgiris is currently preparing for a Round 4 matchup against FC Barcelona in Palau Blaugrana on Friday.
