EuroLeague roundup: Olympiacos bounces back, Žalgiris rallies past Barcelona

Olympiacos returned to winning ways after suffering its first defeat of the season against Virtus in the previous round, comfortably beating Anadolu Efes 89-66 in Piraeus to improve to 3-1. Pablo Laso’s side suffered its second consecutive loss and dropped to 1-3.

Jean Montero led the winners with 16 points, while Tyrique Jones added 11 points and six rebounds. Sasha Vezenkov, Tyson Ward and Mamadou Ndiaye scored nine apiece, while Nikola Milutinov finished with four points and nine rebounds. Cameron Payne paced Efes with 12 points on his debut, followed by PJ Dozier with 11 and Jordan Loyd with 10.

The hosts led by 10 after the opening quarter, but Efes cut the deficit to 35-31 at halftime. Olympiacos took control after the break, scoring 27 points in each of the final two quarters to seal a convincing victory. The Greek side also dominated the boards 49-31, collecting 21 offensive rebounds.

Žalgiris rallies past Barcelona

Žalgiris Kaunas overturned a 10-point deficit entering the final quarter to beat Barcelona 88-81 on the road, with Jonas Valančiūnas contributing 12 points and nine rebounds in just 19 minutes.

Carsen Edwards paced the winners with 19 points and seven assists, Dustin Sleva added 14 points and five rebounds, while Marius Grigonis matched Valančiūnas with 12 points. Justin Robinson led Barcelona with 20 points, hitting four three-pointers, while Kevin Punter scored nine and Tosan Evbuomwan added eight.

Barcelona led 41-39 at halftime and extended its advantage to 65-55 after three quarters. However, Žalgiris outscored the hosts 33-16 in the final period to secure the comeback, finishing with 13 three-pointers on 48.1% shooting and a 36-26 rebounding advantage.

Wilbekin leads Beşiktaş past Baskonia

Scottie Wilbekin scored 24 points, hitting six three-pointers, to lead Beşiktaş to a 92-84 road victory over Baskonia.

Devon Dotson added 14 points, six assists and five rebounds, Wenyen Gabriel also scored 14, and Jaylen Nowell contributed 12. Chris Duarte led Baskonia with 23 points, going 15-for-15 from the foul line, while Kenneth Faried recorded 10 points and nine rebounds. AJ Lawson also finished with 10 points.

Dušan Alimpijević’s side led 28-20 after the opening quarter, but Baskonia responded to take a 51-49 halftime advantage. Beşiktaş regained the lead in the third period and held the hosts to 13 points in the fourth to secure the win.
