After two straight EuroLeague wins over Anadolu Efes and Dubai, Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet will head to France without a traditional center, with both Jonathan Motley and Ebuka Izundu sidelined by injuries.
Head coach Ibon Navarro confirmed that Izundu will miss the EuroLeague game against ASVEL after spraining his right ankle against Budućnost on Saturday, joining Motley on the injury list.
“We’re taking it hour by hour, rather than day by day. We hope he’ll be ready for the next game,” Navarro said of Izundu.
Their absence leaves Zvezda relying on smaller lineups, with Dejan Davidovac, Jordan Nwora, Chima Moneke and Semi Ojeleye among the available frontcourt options.
“It’s not a choice, it’s a necessity. We’ll do what we have to do. It’s not easy, but we’ll try,” Navarro added.
With his options limited, Navarro also confirmed that the club is searching for reinforcements.
“Of course, the club is looking for a player who can help us. Sooner or later, they’ll find one.”
