Olympiacos achieved a significant victory in the fifth round of the EuroLeague, overcoming Valencia 102-97 on the road after a comeback and overtime.

At the start of the third quarter, Xavier Albert’s team led by 28 points (62-34), but by the end of the game, they fell victim to their own fast pace, allowing the visitors to secure a crazy win.

Despite losing Georgios Bartzokas, Olympiacos managed to reduce the lead minute by minute, and 17 minutes after the scoreboard showed 62-34, they took the lead with points from Mbaye Ndiaye (88-86).

What followed was drama, overtime, and eventually the EuroLeague champions secured a significant victory, tying the competition’s record.

The Greek team overturned a 28-point deficit, matching the record set by Poland’s Prokom in the 2012/13 season. Back then, Prokom was trailing by 28 points at home against Montepaschi Siena but managed to secure a win. Since then, no team had triumphed after being down by 28 points until Olympiacos in Valencia, who thus secured their fourth win in five rounds. Valencia has the same record.
