The EuroLeague Players Association recently welcomed more than 50 new EuroLeague players to introduce them to ELPA’s mission and available support programs.

Additional details were shared on Tuesday.

Per the press release: “The EuroLeague Players Association (ELPA) recently welcomed new EuroLeague players through its Newcomers Program, an online session introducing players to the environment of Europe’s top-tier competition and ELPA’s mission to support them throughout their professional careers and beyond.

The presentation of ELPA, its mission, and its key initiatives was led by ELPA First Vice President and two-time EuroLeague champion Alec Peters. He introduced the association’s work and its commitment to protecting players’ interests and supporting their personal and professional development.

The session also featured ELPA Vice President and EuroLeague veteran Donatas Motiejunas, who shared his experience with fellow players, offering insights into the challenges and realities of life as an athlete in one of the most demanding sports leagues. His contribution provided newcomers with a valuable perspective on the demands of professional basketball and the importance of navigating both the sporting and personal aspects of an athlete’s career.

As part of the program, players were introduced to various ELPA’s initiatives, including key benefits such as Second Career Program, Mental Well-being Program, Overdue Payables System and Second Medical Opinion. These benefits aim to help players prepare for life after basketball, support their mental health, offer legal protections and promote personal and professional development.

In a separate part of the program, led by the league office, CEO of EuroLeague Basketball Chus Bueno presented to players the league’s vision for its growth and discussed players’ role in its development.

Over 50 players-newcomers attended the session. Through initiatives such as the Newcomers Program, ELPA continues to empower players, protect their interests, and support their well-being and long-term success.”
