Zalgiris has welcomed back Keenan Evans. The return of the 30-year-old guard to the EuroLeague participant based in Kaunas was announced on Friday.

Per the press release: “With the new EuroLeague season underway, Zalgiris Kaunas has announced the addition of guard Keenan Evans to its roster. The 30-year-old, 191 cm American signed with the club during the summer, but was immediately loaned to the London Lions for the start of the season.

Evans previously played for Zalgiris during the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons, leaving a significant mark in Kaunas. His time with the club was interrupted by two serious injuries, and he later joined Olympiacos Piraeus, helping the Greek side capture the EuroLeague title last season. However, Evans spent most of the campaign sidelined while recovering from an Achilles tendon injury.

This season, Evans appeared in four EuroCup games for the London Lions, averaging 11.8 points, 2.8 assists and a 9.5 performance index rating per game.

Zalgiris President Paulius Jankunas shared his thoughts on Evans’ return to the club.

“The decision was made after Nigel Williams-Goss suffered a setback with his injury. We needed a quick solution, and we have a great deal of information about Keenan. Naturally, he knows the organization well, and we know him, along with the qualities he brings that fit our needs. Keenan is coming to help the team. He is not some kind of savior who will single-handedly turn things around. That’s not what this is about. We simply needed another player who can be part of the rotation and help improve the team’s overall performance.”

Jankunas also highlighted Evans’ ability to run a team on the court and discussed the guard’s physical condition at the start of the season.

“As I mentioned, his physical condition is good and he feels well at the moment. Early in the season his workload was managed carefully, but his minutes have been increasing and he has been given more freedom because his body has responded well to the added demands. Once he arrives, we’ll evaluate everything ourselves. He’ll practice with the team, start playing, and of course we’ll assess where he is physically, even though we already have plenty of information.”

The full interview, in which Jankunas shares additional thoughts on the team’s preparation for the upcoming matchup against ASVEL, is available exclusively on the Zalgiris Insider platform.”
