LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne has officially retired the jersey of former captain Charles Kahudi.
The decision, announced on Tuesday, honors a decade of unwavering dedication from the veteran forward, who proudly suited up for the team based in the suburb of Lyon between 2015 and 2025, through their most successful modern era.
ASVEL revealed the emotional milestone on social media, sharing a short video capturing the exact moment the announcement was delivered to Kahudi.

During his tenure with the French powerhouse, Kahudi rapidly emerged as the heart and soul of the roster. Revered for his relentless physical grit on the floor and his commanding leadership in the locker room, he became a household name across France and Europe.
He played in 152 EuroLeague games, all with ASVEL. His career also featured the Basketball Champions League, 7DAYS EuroCup, and FIBA Europe Cup, besides earlier stints with Le Mans, JDA Dijon, Cholet, and ALM Evreux.
Under his captaincy, ASVEL captured seven domestic titles, including four league championships, while firmly cementing their position as a mainstay in Europe’s top-tier league.
With the senior national team of France, he captured gold in the EuroBasket 2013 alongside Tony Parker, silver in the EuroBasket 2011, and bronze in the FIBA World Cup 2014 and EuroBasket 2015.
Last summer, Kahudi transitioned from the court to the front office, reuniting with ASVEL and Parker as the club’s assistant general manager.
With this jersey retirement marking the peak of mounting career celebrations, his on-court legacy is permanently immortalized in a group of club icons, including Alain Gilles and Amara Sy.
