Crvena Zvezda secured a victory in the ninth round of the EuroLeague, defeating Bayern Munich 103-73 on their home court.
One of the keys to Zvezda’s victory, which concluded with two wins in the double round, was Christian Koloko, who immediately showed that he would be a significant addition.
There are few centers, perhaps only Edy Tavares, capable of having such an impact on a team in the EuroLeague, especially its defense, which has improved even more since his arrival at Zvezda. Bayern felt this impact the most, as Koloko delivered five blocks to the visitors in the first half.
The Cameroonian forced them to change their shots and dominated the paint, leading to Bayern having only 4/19 shooting for two points at one point. In the end, Koloko had 12 points, five blocks, and two rebounds in just 14 minutes on the court, and it is clear that he will be a significant reinforcement for Zvezda, especially when his fitness reaches its peak.
Ibon Navarro also spoke about his importance at the press conference.
“Koloko is excellent, we needed a player like him. Before he arrived, we played without him, created something, and then integrated him into it. Koloko was the last piece of the puzzle that made everything fit.”
Next week, Koloko will face a big test as Zvezda will visit Olympiacos in the Athens.
