Fenerbahce Tarfin is preparing to make a significant addition to their frontcourt rotation. As first reported by Basketnews and confirmed by Eurohoops sources on Friday, they are finalizing a one-year contract with Dwight Powell.
Several EuroLeague teams have been closely monitoring the Canadian international, with whom Fener had been in contact for some time.
The 35-year-old forward-center became a free agent during the final roster cuts ahead of the 2026–27 NBA Regular Season.
The 13-year NBA veteran has spent the vast majority of his career wearing the Dallas Mavericks jersey. Standing out with his energy, physical play, high finishing percentage around the rim, and pick-and-roll efficiency, the experienced big was also part of the roster that reached all the way to the NBA Finals 2024.
In his 2025–26 journey, Powell tallied 3.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 14.3 minutes per game, while shooting 64.4% from the field.
Appearing in a career total of 812 games in the league based in North America, the Toronto native’s averages are at 6.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per contest.
Powell finished his Mavs career with a 60.6% field goal percentage, ranking fourth in franchise history. He was exceptionally efficient between 2018 and 2020, converting over 70% of his attempts in the paint.
If the transfer is completed, Fenerbahce will add a highly experienced NBA center to its frontcourt rotation, one who thrives in physical play and excels in the pick-and-roll game.
The team coached by Sarunas Jasikevicius currently sits at 6–3 in the EuroLeague Regular Season and 3–2 in the Turkiye Sigorta Basketbol Super Ligi Regular Season.
