Jean Montero is expected to miss six months after undergoing surgery on his left knee, Olympiacos announced.
The club confirmed that the procedure took place today to repair his lateral meniscus, leaving the guard facing a lengthy rehabilitation period.
“The entire Olympiacos BC family wishes Jean a smooth and speedy recovery and looks forward to seeing him back on the court,” the club said in its statement.
After this shocking turn of events, the best-case scenario for Montero would be to return to action around May, with the EuroLeague playoffs starting on the 27th of April.
Of course, no prediction can be made at this point, and there’s no official timeline for his return.
This is a huge blow for Olympiacos, with the team already adding John Konchar to the roster.
Montero was injured in the game against Barcelona in Round 6, and he insisted on playing some minutes in the second half despite the pain.
