Dubai played a great game at home and defeated Hapoel Tel Aviv 97-83 in the ninth round of the Euroleague.
However, the match was marked by terrible scenes from the third quarter and the heavy fall of Tomas Satoransky.
The 35-year-old Czech point guard of Hapoel Tel Aviv jumped to contest the offensive rebound after a missed two-pointer by Vasilije Micic and collided in the air with Dwayne Bacon and Filip Petrusev of Dubai, while there was also contact with teammate Bruno Caboclo, who had also moved into the space.
The fall to the court was awkward and on his back, causing an immediate stiffening. Fortunately, he was conscious and kept moving his left hand as Elie Okobo and Toko Shengelia held his legs elevated and shook them.
Doctors from both teams immediately rushed to him and he was eventually carried off on a stretcher.
Itoudis on Satoransky
“First and foremost, the important thing is to pray that Sato is okay. From what I’ve been told, he is awake, conscious, and has full control. Let’s hope it’s nothing serious.
Dubai’s doctor has informed us that he is conscious and doing well. We’ll see whether he will be hospitalized here or fly back with us.”
