Olympiacos will host Crvena zvezda on Friday (20:15 CEST) in the tenth round of the Euroleague, and Ibon Navarro has decided which team will head to Athens.
According to Meridian Sport, Ibon Navarro has decided not to include Johnathan Motley in the team, as he has not been performing as expected this season. On the other hand, the same source reports that Christian Koloko is in the active Zvezda team.
Since Koloko is Cameroonian, there were issues with paperwork entering the European Union, but the Belgrade team managed to secure the new center’s participation against the Euroleague champion.
Before the match, Navarro shared his expectations.
“First of all, we must step onto the court with a lot of respect because we are playing against the current Euroleague champion. They are not champions just because they have good players, but because they have extraordinary chemistry, they are very strong, and a team like Olympiacos finds a way to win regardless of the problems they face.
Secondly, they are the best rebounding team in the Euroleague, the team with the most points from second chances, and the team with the best two-point shooting percentage. It will be a big challenge to play against a team we must stay maximally focused on for 40 minutes, we must execute ‘closeouts’ well every time. In fact, we must do much better at things we haven’t done right so far.”
