Maccabi Tel Aviv had signed German big man Daniel Theis, who left AS Monaco this summer, with high expectations. However, the transfer appears to have quickly turned into a crisis within the club.

According to Israeli outlet Walla Sport, Maccabi Tel Aviv wants to part ways with Daniel Theis. The club would reportedly approve his departure if another team can be found to take over his contract.

The 34-year-old German big man signed a two-year deal with Maccabi Tel Aviv in the summer. Earning approximately $2.2 million per year, he is the highest-paid player on the team.

The experienced player, who joined the club with high expectations this summer, has fallen short of them with his performances so far. In addition, Theis did not play a single minute in Maccabi’s last two EuroLeague games.

This season, Daniel Theis has appeared in seven EuroLeague games for Maccabi Tel Aviv, averaging 7.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game.
