Fenerbahce secured their seventh EuroLeague victory by defeating Baskonia 84–65 in Istanbul during Dwight Powell’s debut.
After an NBA career with the Dallas Mavericks, Powell signed with Fenerbahce and immediately contributed to the team’s victory.
The center recorded three points, seven rebounds, two assists, and one block in 14 minutes, leaving a very good impression.
This was highlighted by Sarunas Jasikevicius in an interview with journalists after the match.
“We were quite good. We were able to do what we wanted for most of the game. We played fast, shared the ball well, and found good shots. In the second half, we wanted everyone to get playing time, so our rhythm dropped a bit. However, looking at the overall performance, we should be very happy with how we played today.
Dwight Powell was good, even very good. He did exactly what he has done throughout his career. His engine is incredible, and thanks to him, we got many second-chance points. He contributed to rebounds with his physicality under the basket. We’ll see; of course, we need to give him some time. He’s only been able to have two practices with the team, so we need to be patient.”
