The defending EuroLeague champion admitted that not playing in the Peace and Friendship stadium (SEF) feels weird but it was not an excuse for the defeat to Crvena Zvezda

Olympiacos started the season sizzling with a 7-2 record, but in their fourth home game they struggled against Crvena Zvezda, scoring just 57 points and ending up losing.

However, their home is not their “home”.

Playing in the Sunel Arena due to the refurbishment works done in SEF, Olympiacos feels a bit weird being essentially away from home.

“Yeah, I agree, it’s not the best,” said Evan Fournier to Eurohoops after the 62-57 defeat to Zvezda.

As he elaborated: “It’s like having your wife or your girlfriend away for a little while; you have to wait for her to get ready, and when she’s ready and then looking all pretty and stuff, it’s gonna be time to rock out. SEF is being refurbished right now; we obviously can’t wait for it to be ready.”

Still, Fournier didn’t want to use that as an excuse, adding about his performance in the game: “I mean, it wasn’t my best, obviously; I have to be better, period.”

With Jean Montero out with injury and Tyler Dorsey still suspended by the team, Olympiacos is on the market for a player, but last season’s MVP believes that the roster has already the tools to move forward: “I don’t see why we couldn’t handle anything. Of course we have the talent, we have the right mindset, we have everything we need really. It’s just, tonight was at our best. It happens; it’s not what we want, but we move forward.”
