Pierria Henry is nearing a return to the EuroLeague. According to reports from Chema de Lucas and Israeli journalist Moses Barda, the point guard—who has previously played for teams including Baskonia and Fenerbahçe—could return to the court after nearly four years to join Maccabi Tel Aviv.
The last game Henry played was for the Vitoria-based club in January 2023. That same month, Baskonia suspended his contract. He was sanctioned for the use—or attempted use—of a prohibited method (tampering with a urine sample/evidence of synthetic urine) during an anti-doping test conducted following a EuroLeague match between Baskonia and Maccabi Tel Aviv on November 3, 2022.
FIBA officially imposed a four-year (48-month) ban in February 2024, which is set to expire in January 2027—meaning Henry could be eligible to play in the coming weeks. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) rejected his appeal in 2025, upholding the sanction, which is now nearing its end.
In an unexpected turn of events, Henry could land at Maccabi Tel Aviv, a team currently sitting in second-to-last place in the EuroLeague standings with a record of 2 wins and 8 losses. The 33-year-old American-Senegalese point guard appears ready to return to the highest level of European basketball.
