It sounds crazy but it was after all true! FC Barcelona Lassa made an offer to Kobe Bryant in order to play next season in Europe for one more year!
As the Spanish newspaper “El Mundo Deportivo” reported, Barcelona which hopes to have also Pau Gasol back in its roster before the Spanish legend retires, made a contract offer to his longtime friend Kobe. Bryant himself said during last summer’s US tour of the football team of Barcelona: “I would like to finish my career playing for Barça with Pau Gasol”. And that was the start of it.
Barcelona offered a contract to Bryant according to which he would play only in the Euroleague. Only if he wanted it himself, he would also play in the Spanish Liga Endesa, while the Spanish club was offering him the chance to have a farewell tour around Europe, playing against all the other major basketball clubs.
Bryant denied the offer “with elegance” according to the report, saying that he would not be physically capable of living up to what it was required of him. During the recent All Star Game, Kobe was asked for this matter, he gave a sincere answer, but everyone believed that he was just joking…
