The two teams might be combined for a unique European basketball achievement

By Eurohoops team/ info@eurohoops.net

If Fenerbahce manages to lift the Euroleague trophy on Sunday, then its achievement, along with Galatasaray‘s conquer of Eurocup, will create a unique combination, that has happened only other four times in the modern day European basketball: Two teams from the same country winning Euroleague and Eurocup in the same season.

The last time that this happened was in 2010, with Barcelona (Euroleague) and Valencia (from Spain). Both teams also won these titles in 2003, while in 2004 Maccabi Tel Aviv was the Euroleague champion and Hapoel Jerusalem won the Eurocup (then being named “Uleb Cup) for Israel. In 2006, it was the turn of Russia with CSKA Moscow (Euroleague) and Dynamo Moscow (Eurocup).
