A little before he and his teammates in Laboral Kutxa would begin practice for the third-place game, Jaka Blazic, admitted to Eurohoops that the semifinal defeat has taken an emotional toll on them.

“We feel emptied”, he revealed. “It was a really emotional situation. All night we have been thinking about what happened and nothing else. It’s tough.”.

Of course, there is one game remaining for Baskonia right now. For Blazic, winning third-place is no small matter. “Third place is better than fourth, isn’t it? We have to to give our best to win the game and be happy with how we close the Euroleague season this year”.

The fans support spoke volumes to the heart of the Slovenian player. “These are the fans that will be all the time behind you no matter if you win or lose. As long as you bring your best self on court, they are with you. I have experienced this with Crvena Zvezda fans as well and I know how important it is. With these fans behind you, it’s easier for us, the players”.

There has been lots of debate on Darius Adams choice to attempt a three-pointer in the last play Baskonia play of regular time. Blazic was supportive of his teammate’s decision. “I think it was a good choice. A good, open shot. Darius was right to take it”.

Could the ball go in the hands of a more experienced player in this kind of moments. Like Bourousis? “Bourousis and Adams have been our main guys this season. So yes, perhaps Bourousis could have taken the shot as well. But remember that it was a difficult situation. It’s easy to be smart about it right now and pass judgment for what happened. Unfortunately the shot was off target. “

“To be honest I think we lost the game before, when we had a good difference and we lost it. That’s sports, you know. Sometimes you lose, sometimes you win. We gained some experience. But this loss made us more connected. Next time we will be better on court”
