Olimpia Armani Milano agreed on terms with 20–year–old forward Simone Fontecchio, coming from Virtus Bologna.

In spite of his young age, Fontecchio is a 4-year veteran of the Italian league with 40 starts during the past two seasons spent in Virtus Bologna (the club that acquired him from Pescara). Two years ago, Fontecchio averaged 7.4 points per game in 24.5 minutes. He was named best young player of the league. During last season, he averaged 9.2 points and 3.5 rebounds while converting 32.8% of his three-pointers and 83.8% of his free throws. He had also 1.9 assists per game in 27.5 minutes.

The Italian forward is the son of former Italian Women National Team, Malì Pomilio who also won two Euroleagues with Vicenza. His father is Daniele Fontecchio, who was a world-class hurdler in the eighties. His brother is Luca Fontecchio, who’s a basketball player too.

He averaged15.8 points per game with 4.9 rebounds at the U18 European championship in 2013 and 10.6 points per game and 3.9 boards at the u20 European championship in 2015.
