In an interview with Spanish website El Periodico.com, Juan Carlos Navarro talked about the struggles that Barcelona is facing, characteristically mentioning that this season is something completely new to him.

“Truth be told, I’ve never lived such a season, especially in a European competition,” said the captain of the Blaugrana. “It’s a cluster formed of many things. The issues with injuries haven’t helped us. That’s for sure. And we’ve reached a point where not playing well despite our efforts, gets to our nerves.”

Barcelona players were actually fined after recent poor performances and negative results.

“We have suffered some hard defeats the kind of which we haven’t for a long time,” he added.

La Bomba mentioned that his team will try to recover in the upcoming Copa Del Rey while admitting that they are not favorites, as usual. “There’s time to get back to form and we will try until the end. An important test is the Copa Del Rey. We will not go as favorites, like so many times before. Not this time. But it’s a good incentive for all players and a great motivation because in the Cup everyone starts from scratch.”

Regarding head coach Giorgos Bartzokas, Navarro said that, “We have talked a lot. Both on personal level and on the team. He’s a person with whom you can talk and open up about anything.”
