Zalgiris’ playoffs hopes alive after road win over Unics

Zalgiris Kaunas is still alive in the playoffs race after passing victoriously from Kazan against Unics.

Paulius Jankunas dropped 21 points and grabbed 7 rebounds as Zalgiris Kaunas beat Unics Kazan 82 – 80 in Russia to remain in hot pursuit of the top eight teams in the EuroLeague Standings.

In his return with Unics, EuroLeague top scorer Keith Langford had 27 points while hitting the free-throws that put his team ahead 77 – 76 with 1:17 remaining.

But then Leo Westermann (12 points) banged the go-ahead 3-pointer and his team never looked back. The Lithuanians now have a 12 – 14 and are within a two-game distance from the playoffs zone.

Meanwhile, Unics Kazan is 7 – 19 having lost the postseason train long ago. Apart from Langford, Quino Colom registered a double-double of 14 points/10 assists, Artsiom Parakhouski had 15 points and Latavious 12 along with 6 rebounds.

For Zalgiris, Lukas Lekavicious added 10 points plus 5 assists and Brock Motum with Antanas Kavaliauskas 10 points each.
