One of the most impressive and rather unexpected victories in the EuroLeague season took place in Piraeus tonight where eliminated Galatasaray outplayed Olympiacos 80 – 71.

The “Cimbom” were stunning in the second half, first coming back from a 50 – 35 deficit and then finishing the job in the fourth quarter where Vladimir Micov scored 13 out of his 18 points, leading his team in nothing less than a triumph.

The Serbian swingman also dropped the dagger for the 69 – 76 with 1:14 to go. There was  still time for a Red comeback, but their efforts were futile. Still, they remain third in the standings with a 18 – 8 record.

Giorgos Printezis and Erick Green scored 14 points apiece for Olympiacos that blacked out offensively in the third quarter, giving the guests plenty opportunities to strike in transition with easy baskets from long range that allowed them to chew the deficit and come back in the match for good.

For Galatasaray, Alex Tyus had 14 plus 5 rebounds, while Sinan Guler provided playmaking leadership via 8 assists, to go with his 8 points and 5 rebounds.

After Olympiacos blew the 15-point lead they had taken in the mid of the third period when their opponents had a stunning 4 – 26 run to tie the score 59 – 61 in the beginning of the fourth!

The hosts tried to recover but couldn’t stop Micov who took his weapon and made short work of Olympiacos.
