On the back of a highly dominant second quarter, Galatasaray downed Unics Kazan in Istanbul perhaps easier than what the final score shows.

Jon Diebler scored 17 points and grabbed 5 rebounds, Austin Daye had 12 points and 5 rebounds too as Galatasaray beat Unics Kazan 75 – 67 in Istanbul.

This was more or less only a prestigious victory for the Turkish squad (10 – 17 record now) that had been eliminated from the playoffs weeks ago, same as Unics (7-20) .

And this win came more comfortable than it seems for the “Cimbom” since they were ahead 66 – 47 in the mid of the fourth quarter and up by 16, 71 – 55 with two minutes remaining.

The hosts had built that lead on the back of an incredible 24 – 6 second period that allowed them to go to the locker rooms with a 45 – 29 and never look back.

Keith Langford dropped 24 (with 6/19 from the field) and had 6 rebounds for Unics that began the game quite well, 23 – 21 vs their opponents but fell apart afterwards.
