At the beginning of the match between Galatasaray and Baskonia, Ergin Ataman left for the locker rooms after a group of fans started chanting against him. He returned after a while but the situation didn’t really improve.

The club issued a statement on the events that goes as follows:

“It’s never ever possible to accept what happened before and during the game between GalatasarayBaskonia. Our coach Ergin Ataman is one of the symbol-members of this club with his career achievements and his support to Galatasaray.

By ignoring this fact, some people uttered the most severe insults to our valuable coach and to the values that make Galatasaray what it is. They attacked those of right mind who protested (for the insults), and there is no place for them in the stands.

There should be no doubt that the necessary measures will be taken against those who caused these incidents so as to not be repeated again.”
