By forcing Fenerbahce to 24 points in the second half, Real Madrid took its 22th victory in the EuroLeague season, winning 61 – 56 and sealing the first place in the table.

Meanwhile, the Turkish squad fell from the fourth spot at a 17 – 12 record and is in serious danger of marching to the quarterfinals without the home-court advantage.

Sergio Llull scored 16 points for the “Blancos” but the one who jumpstarted the winners’ machine on the offensive end was Rudy Fernandez who had 6 out of his 11 points during his team’s comeback from a 32 – 39 deficit in the third period.

Llull then added his piece and after a second quarter where Real reached a 9 points season-low, the two teams entered the final stretch with the score 48 – 43.

Fenerbahce didn’t give up and with Bogdan Bogdanovic (15 points), Bobby Dixon (11 points) and Jan Vesely‘s efforts (11 points) managed to transform the 59 – 50 that formed with 3 minutes left to 59 – 56 with 1:42 remaining. Yet they remained scoreless after that and their fate was sealed.
