Javor was one of the three referees of the 2016 Final between Fenerbahce and CSKA Moscow and his decisions weren’t received well by the Turkish team. Zeljko Obradovic himself had said, “someone stole our trophy”, during the post-game press conference.
When Fenerbahce GM was asked about Javor’s participation in this season’s Final Four, during the club’s Media Day ahead of the tournament, he answered that he considers him a top referee. One who deserves his appointment as Final Four referee along with the other seen officials that will call the shots in the four games.
“It doesn’t bother us at all,” Gherardini answered. “Just like players are liable to miss free throws, referees are also liable to miss some calls. Him being selected into Final Four again means he is a top 8 referee in Europe. On basketball court, different things may always happen, they happened in the playoffs and some measures were taken too. The thing is, we all are too much emotional when it comes to sports. Thus we all get irritated easily. We become grumblers. Every one of these eight referees is here because they are considered top 8 refs. That means they deserved it.”
