Elimination from EuroLeague postseason contention and the first round of the Spanish League playoffs. This was definitely a season that everyone affiliated with Barcelona wants to put behind as quickly as possible.
Still, there might be some things to be salvaged and lessons to be learned, that’s why the management of the club decided to meet with head coach Giorgos Bartzokas and discuss the problems (apart from the obvious one: AKA: a massive amount of injuries) that prevented the Blaugrana from reaching their goals.
During the meeting, Nacho Rodriguez (Director of Management), Rodrigo de la Fuente (General Manager) and Juan Llaneza (Director of Scouting) asked the Greek coach about his opinion on the reasons the team absolutely failed to reach its goals this season and his evaluation of the roster in order to have all the information they need in order to make the appropriate plans of re-building for 2017/2018.
While the matter of Bartzokas’ future in Barcelona wasn’t addressed, the most likely scenario is that he won’t continue at the helm of the team.
