Panathinaikos brings back Vougioukas

anathinaikos Athens added size and experience to its roster by signing center Ian Vougioukas to a two-year deal, the club announced.

32-year-old Vougioukas arrives from Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar, where he averaged 8.4 points and 4.7 rebounds in 18 7DAYS EuroCup games last season, helping his team reach the semifinals.

In his most recent Turkish Airlines EuroLeague experience, Vougioukas averaged 11.1 points and 4.7 rebounds in 24 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games with Zalgiris in the 2015-16 season, helping the team win the Lithuanian League crown.

Vougioukas won the EuroLeague in 2011 with Panathinaikos and has played a total of six seasons in Europe’s premier competition with Olympiacos Piraeus and Galatasaray Istanbul in addition to his time with Panathinaikos and Zalgiris.

He has also starred in the EuroCup for Panellinios of Greece and Unics Kazan of Russia in addition to stints with ratiopharm Ulm in Germany and Rethimnon in Greece. Vougioukas reached the EuroCup finals in 2014 with Unics and the EuroCup semifinals with Panellinios in 2010.

Vougioukas has also been a member of the Greek national team.
