A report emerged yesterday regarding a lucrative offer that Baskonia sent to Partizan for Serbian prospect Vanja Marinkovic. Although the player’s agent denied that such a bid exists, mentioning only an “expressed interest”, Partizan head coach Miroslav Nikolic said that the youngster is en route to Vitoria.

“We no longer have this young player. The boy went there (Baskonia), the administration decided to sell him. And we couldn’t even keep him,” Nikolic said to Sporski Zurnal.

“It was a good offer. He had a contract for another year. We will use this indemnity for some past debts,” added the Serbian coach.

Marinkovic posted 7.7 points and 2.3 rebounds per game last season in the Basketball Champions League. He averaged 15.4 points and 3.7 rebounds in the U20 European Championship that took place earlier this month in Crete, Greece.
