Pablo Prigioni’s presence at the helm of Baskonia was a key reason behind Jayson Granger’s decision to sign with the Basques, despite the fact that Real Madrid had also expressed an interest in him.
“When Sergio Llull was injured, Real Madrid contacted my representatives. But Baskonia was very interested and I preferred to opt for them to continue growing as a player in the hands of Pablo Prigioni”, Granger said in an interview with Spanish website BasquetPlus.
The Uruguayan guard also revealed that he holds Prigioni and Marcelinho Huertas, his backcourt mate in Baskonia, in great esteem.
“He (Prigioni) was always one of my favorite players. I always admired him. He will help us a lot. You have to keep your eyes and ears open το continue learning from these two figures: Prigoni and Marcelinho Huertas”
