It was a close game between Khimki Moscow and Panathinaikos and the Russians prevailed thanks to their well-focused reaction in the last-minute details.

A small 6-0 run in the final minute of the game gave Khimki Moscow a 73 – 70 “friendly” victory over Panathinaikos in the opening game of the “Gomelsky Cup” preparation tournament.

Chris Singleton had made it 67 – 70  with 1:07 remaining but two baskets by Khimki’s top scorer Alexey Shved and Anthony Gill and a 2/2 from the line by Charles Jenkins “wrote” the final result.

Shved was the top performer on the floor, finishing with a game-high 27 in PIR after 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Marcus Denmon led Panathinaikos with 21 points (5/6 from the perimeter).

Stefan Markovic added 12 points plus 6 assists, Charles Jenkins scored 12 and Anthony Gill notched 10 points plus 7 rebounds for Khimki.

From the Greens’ side, Chris Singleton had 19 points and 6 rebounds.
