Brose Bamberg bounced back in style after a  0 – 2 EuroLeague entrance by defeating Unicaja Malaga 80-76 on the road.

August Rubit made a difference on both ends thanks to his double-double contribution of 15 points and 11 rebounds while veteran Ricky Hickman added 18 points.

But it was mainly the calm of the German champs down the stretch that helped them prevail in a close game with an intense finale.

The key: When Unicaja Malaga recovered quickly from falling back 71 – 76 with 1:35 remaining to tie the game in just 20 seconds, the guests didn’t lose their cool and once again took a small lead thanks to a pair of free throws by Rubit.

Nemanja Nedovic, who had registered a career-high 26 points, tried to attack the basket on the other end but to no avail. Leon Radosevic’s 0/2 from the line gave the hosts another opportunity to tie the match or even take a lead but it was thrown away.

Then Lucca Staiger was fouled and his 2/2 sealed the final outcome and result.
