After Unicaja Malaga defeated FC Barcelona Lassa on the road many questions were raised in the press conference of Sito Alonso. The final buzzer sounded and white handkerchiefs were out in the ‘Palau Blaugrana’.

Sito Alonso was furious with the team’s lack of aggression on defense the last couple of minutes: “For me, the last dunk of McCallum is intolerable and unjustifiable. You must make an unsportsmanlike or whatever. We have worked to win the rest of the game but that play… The next time that they do not come down to defend, I’ll go out and block the shot myself even if they kick me out. And I’m not joking, the situation has an imminent exit and I’m just focused on that.”

Barcelona’s head coach commented on the psychological part: “It would be easy to say that it is a psychological issue when I have not seen the whole game. I have noticed that we had problems when being six points down. When things went better I did not notice it.”

On the team’s defense he added: “Although the team played well at the beginning, we had problems adjusting to the defensive balance. We must recover the players who have a lower level. We have no other option than to remake ourselves for Vitoria’s game.”

On the other side, Joan Plaza explained how the game was won with the following metaphor: “It was a job of wearing them down, of sharpening the blade until the moment of felling the tree. The sensation I have is that we deserved to win. We knew that Barca needed to, but that’s a double-edged sword, also for us. We came out serious and we stopped the first run that we expected from Barcelona.”
