Unicaja ended Real Madrid‘s seven-game winning streak in EuroLeague with a triumph in Malaga 80 – 75.  Pablo Laso’s men fell to a 12-7 record after their first defeat in 14 matches, including EuroLeague and Liga Endesa. Meanwhile, the Andalusians are just two victories away from the playoff zone after this result.

The star: Ray McCallum and Adam Waczynski (4 three-pointers) led Unicaja in scoring with 15 points apiece. Nemanja Nedovic scored 11 points and added 7 assists for the winners.

The hosts had a breakout start (11 – 3, 7′) and preserved that lead since Madrid continued struggling offensively even after Luka Doncic’s entrance from the bench. Unicaja didn’t allow any kind of reaction and reached a 38 – 27 lead at the half.

The visiting side tied the game with a 0-9 run (48 – 48, 27′) but Malaga made it a 5-point affair with one quarter left.

With three minutes remaining, Unicaja reached a double-digit lead and didn’t allow their opponents any possibility of coming back. Nemanja Nedovic sealed the deal with a shot from way downtown.

Not enough: The young NBA prospect Luka Doncic, who played despite suffering from tonsillitis paced the “Madrilenos” with 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. Jaycee Carroll and Rudy Fernandez scored 10 points each.
